Data Analyst Intern |
Job Type: Internship Location: San Francisco, CA |
Responsibilities • Obtaining Data: – Generating realistic, fake, data from a limited set of source data or inputs, using a collection of tools. – Collect data from customers and other external sources – Identify sources of input data and acquire them (physical documents, PDFs, online web forms) – Manage the manually labeling of data and when necessary take individual effort to insure its completion• Managing Data – Creating tests for extraction algorithms to be applied against – Monitoring the quality of algorithms against training data – Highlight algorithm failures and suggested improvements based on observations – Own the data cleaning, standardization and deduplication pipeline – Ensure datasets remain high quality, representative and relevant to the use case – Defining a policy for what volume, variety and quality of data is sufficient to qualify as a training set for an initiative – Define a data catalogue and implement best practices for Instabase • Testing Algorithms Qualifications • Technical understanding of statistics, computer science, information sciences, data science or a related field • Plus, but not required, 1-2 years scripting in a language like Python |

Consumer Data and Analytics Internship | |

Responsibilities• Compile and consolidate qualitative and quantitative data from disparate sources • Apply research methods including online research, database/Excel management and analytics • Conduct research and aggregate data to inform business decisions • Create on-line database to manage information including qualitative and quantitative data • Communicate results to project owners, providing advice on action(s) to be taken • Responds to ad-hoc requests • Must be comfortable initiating outreach to colleagues across the organization at all levels • Communicate with other departments to ensure an effective flow of information to and from the Consumer Obsession function Qualifications• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Business, Engineering and Technology Management, Operations Technology Management, Public Health, Sociology/Social Research or a related program Candidates who have completed their degree program in the last year are also encouraged to apply• Prior experience and familiarity with basic research methods including online research, database/Excel management and analytics• Ability to think analytically, apply analytical techniques and to provide in-depth analysis for potential recommendations to internal customers • Prior experience conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis a plus • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of the work force • Excellent analytical problem solving and critical thinking/creative research skills • Knowledge of analytical tools including Excel a must • Prior experience with Tableau preferred • Ability to participate in a team atmosphere to achieve department goals and objectives consistent with corporate vision and strategies • Able to work independently when given an assignment and complete a professional deliverable • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment • Familiarity with survey programming software preferred • Ability to transform disparate pieces of information into an understandable framework in graphics form or actionable recommendations • Ability to skillfully identify and understand research nuances • Minimum of 3.0 cumulative undergraduate grade point average • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States |

Responsibilities• Proven working experience as a data analyst and advanced analytical knowledge of data.• Must understand reporting tools; how to write reports and pull data.• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.• Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.• Work with supervisors to prioritize business and information needs.• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.• Proficiency in MS Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills, as well as Oracle experience.• Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications• Ability to effectively convey information both written and verbally and to listen and understand information and ideas others convey both written and verbally. • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and how to use them to solve problems. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Oracle. • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
